Thanks Andy!!!
Hey Andy... Just wanted to take a second to tell you how much i appreciate your idea to set up this sub-forum. Your knowledge base is greatly appreciated! My wife and I sit up late at night discussing our plans and we oftentimes find ourselves asking "What would Tn...Andy do in this situation?"
:hmmmm: Ok, it's not really that often, but we have discussed some of your posts on more than one occasion. And I know i've forwarded her more than a few of your posts. :haha: Anyways, just finished re-reading the "canning" post and i fwd'ed her the link on the american canner. we're getting one. Gotta have somewhere to put all these veggies we are growing! (Btw, what a blast that has been growing a garden with the kids!) Quick question: what kind of dual burner setup do you use exactly? Does it have the large propane tanks or just the little green coleman bottles. Gotta link for the one you have? Thanks again for all your contributions and a great idea to start this forum!!! |
Re: Thanks Andy!!!
WWTAD What Would Tn Andy Do ? ahahahahahaaaaaaa......heck if I know.....
Quick answer: It's a 'made in china' cast iron deal I bought at Home Depot or Nothern Hydraulics....can't remember which....measures about 12" x 30" with some short legs...you set it up on a table ( or a hunk of plywood on sawhorses in the garage is what I do )....comes with about 6' hose and a regulator, then you screw that into a 20lb or larger bottle. Looks real similar to this one, with out the long legs...and mine was a LOT cheaper..like 30 bucks or so at Northern.... http://www.comfortchannel.com/prod.i...5703&ovtac=CMP The turkey cooker burner ( single burner ) is the same way, except it has little longer legs and sits on the ground/floor/etc....about a 15" diameter. I know they sell those places like Home Depot, along with the big pots and peanut oil to deep fry turkeys. |
Re: Thanks Andy!!!
aha! that helps out a ton. The reason i was wondering is i have a couple of dual burner dual-fuel coleman camp stoves already (both use coleman fuel or gasoline) but they don't seem like they'd put out the BTU's to work with the canner. I also have a single burner unit (coleman) but it, too, runs on the coleman fuel and would be wayyyyy too small. We also have a normal backyard grill plus one of those Coleman Roadtrip grills but none of them seem like they work well with the Canner. We have a Coleman Outlet store close by the hacienda (one of my favorite stores.) I'll check and see if they have something like your link showed.
Definitely going to start learning how to can. I actually bought the Ball blue book of canning a year ago but never bought the canner! |
